Dr. Joseph M. Gebara, is Senior Vice President of Project Delivery for SNC-Lavalin’s Oil & Gas sector with a proven track record of over thirty years in the energy industry.
Prior to joining SNC-Lavalin Dr. Gebara held the role of General Manager of the Offshore Business Line for Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals, during which time he expanded their business offering for floating LNG, topsides and subsea engineering projects. Dr. Gebara also held the role of Vice President of Floating Systems Operation at Technip and previously led Technip North America’s Deepwater Engineering division.
Dr. Gebara is well regarded in the oil and gas industry, having served as a member of the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Ocean Energy Safety Advisory Committee, post Macondo, and a member of the University Of Texas Cockrell School Of Engineering’s Industry Advisory Committee. He currently serves on the University of Houston Subsea Engineering Industry Advisory Board. Joe is a member of API’s SC2 committee for floating and fixed structures and have participated in workgroups for floater design and assessment of fixed and floating facilities.
Dr. Gebara has received the Jacques Franklin award for Technology and Innovation, the United States Achievement Award in Civil Engineering and the David Ross Fellowship in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. After graduating from the American University of Beirut with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Dr. Gebara went on to achieve his master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Ph.D. in structural engineering and applied mechanics from Purdue University.
